Santee is a city in San Diego County, California. The city is named after Milton Santee, second husband of Jennie Blodgett, whose first husband was George A. Cowles, a ranching pioneer in the San Diego area. As of 2006, Santee had a population of 54,709.

Santee is one of the communities that collectively make up the informal designation of East County, along with Lakeside, El Cajon, and to a varying extent Lemon Grove, Spring Valley and La Mesa. It is a bedroom community of the San Diego Area Santee residents are primarily white and generally conservative as evidenced by the local congressman Duncan D. Hunter.
