Crescent city moving company
Settlers flocked to the northwest coast of California in 1850 as a result of the discovery of gold on the Trinity. Eureka, Arcata, and Trinidad were established as trade centers. Klamath City, near the mouth of the Klamath River, directly opposite the present village of Requa, was established in 1851. This short-lived city arose with great expectations of becoming the port of entry for the gold-rich back country. But, because of the shifting sandbars at the mouth of the river, navigation was uncertain, and the place was deserted soon after 1852.
