Del Norte County moving company
Del Norte County was organized from a portion of Klamath County in 1857, and Crescent City was made the county seat. Del Norte is Spanish for “of the north”; the county is in the extreme northwestern corner of California. Klamath county, which had been established in 1851, extended from the Pacific Coast Range and from the Pacific Coast to the summit of the Coast Range and from the Oregon boundary to the mouth of the Mad River. The first county seat was at Trinidad; it was moved to Crescent City in 1854 and to Orleans Bar in 1855. A small population and low assessed values made county government burdensome, and in 1874 the Legislature was petitioned by referendum to divine the remainder of the county between Siskiyou and Humboldt Counties. This was done in 1876. Klamath is the only California County to have been disestablished. Between 1851 and 1857, all of what is now Del Norte county was part of Klamath County.
