Calaveras County movers

Calavers County took its name from the river named by Gabriel Moraga on his expedition of 1808. Moraga had noticed exposed skulls along the banks of the river. Calaveras was one of the original twenty-seven counties. Pleasant Valley, later known as Double Springs, was designated by the Legislature as the first county seat on February 18, 1850, and was followed successively by Jackson, Mokelumne Hill, and finally San Andreas in 1866.
