Livermore moving company AzmovingPros A young English sailor named Robert Livermore entered California in 1821 on the trading ship Colonel Young. Deciding to stay, he worked at various places, apparently gaining the good will of most people wherever he went. In the valley that would later bear his name, he and his partner Jose Noriega applied for the easternmost rancho, Las Positas. It was on the frontier between the coastal settlements and the Indian territory of the hills and the great central valley and was therefore a place of  some danger. By 1835, he was living in a house on the property. In 1838 he married the widow Josefa Higuera Molina, whose father owned Rancho Tularcitos in Santa Clara  County, and began to raise a family. In 1839 Governor Juan B.Alvarado granted the land to Livermore and Noriega; Livermore later bought out Nogiega’s interest.
