Dublin movers
Jose Maria Amador, the first settler of what would later be Murray Township, arrived there before 1830, according to local tradition. He brought with him a rich heritage of ingenuity and industry from his father, Pedro Amador, the Mexican soldier who had come to California with Portola in 1769. Don Jose, himself a soldier, had been born in San Francisco in 1794, and had served as a private in the San Francisco company from 1810 to 1827, being stationed in the military quart at Sonoma from 1824 to 1827. He took part in the expedition of Luis Arguello to the Sacramento Valley in 1821 and went with Gabriel Moraga to Fort Ross and Bodega that same year. After his discharge in 1827 he was mayordomo at Mission San Jose, and in 1834 and 1835 he was granted more than four square leagues of the rancho later known as San Ramon, the greater part of which lay in Contra Costa County.
